Artemios (Demis) Ventouris Roussos (born June 15, 1946) is a Greek singer. He was born in Egypt to ethnic Greek parents George and Olga, and raised in Alexandria. Ivy Jo Hunter (born George Ivy Hunter) was a soul musician and rock and roll pioneer, a songwriter and record producer for the Motown label. Often confused with both blues singer/pianist Ivory Joe Hunter and Motown pianist Joe Hunter (musician) who was leader of the label's houseband The Funk Brothers from 1959 - 1964. Raised in Detroit , Michigan , he is was trained in orchestral music—primarily trumpet and keyboards. After a stint in the United States Army, Hunter began performing as a singer in the proto-soul venues around Detroit , where he was discovered by Motown's first A&R man, William "Mickey" Stevenson. With Stevenson, Hunter became a principal in the Motown Records house band and began to write some of the most significant hits of the early Motown years. Hunter produced and wrote songs for Motown artists like The Marvelettes, The Temptations and Marvin Gaye, for whom he produced the Top 40 hit single "You" in 1968, and The Contours' 1964 hit, Can You Jerk Like Me As a vocalist he recorded a great deal of material with Motown during the sixties including demos of his own compositions, but nothing was released until 1970. In 1970, Motown issued an Ivy Jo single on their soon to be discontinued VIP label entitled 'I Remember When (Dedicated to Beverly )'. The following year another single on VIP was issued entitled 'I'd Still love You'. An album was also planned with the title 'Ivy Jo is in this Bag', but was shelved. Singer Charged Over 'Cooking Christ' Spoof UK, Tuesday June 15, 2010 Sarah Gordon, Sky News Online A popular Spanish singer has been charged with blasphemy for a satirical skit he filmed in 1978 in which he "cooks" a crucifix. Musician Javier Krahe faces a fine of £159000 after stills from the spoof cookery show, which involved baking an effigy of Christ for three days, were shown on television in 2004 during an interview with the star. Despite the length of time since both the film was made and the interview was aired, Mr Krahe faces prosecution for offending the feelings of a religious group, a little-known article included in the Spanish Penal Code. In the video, he jokingly talks about how one gaunt Christ serves two people and instructs viewers to remove spikes before cooking, announcing that it is delicious after three days on a low heat. The television company Canal+, which broadcast the video and interview, has also been hit with a fine of £119000 euros after viewer complaints prompted an investigation. Both the show's producer, Monserrat Fernández Villa, and Mr Krahe have defended themselves saying that only stills were aired, rather than the film in its entirety. The hard line taken against the tongue-in-cheek video has divided opinion in Spain, with many progressive groups calling for the freedom of speech law to be altered to include freedom to blaspheme.
